Miss France Iris Mittenaere Crowned the Miss Universe Title 2016

The Miss France, Iris Mittenaere has been crowned the Miss Universe 2016 on Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines. The first and the second runner-ups were Miss Haiti, Raquel Pelissier and Miss Colombia, Andrea Tovar respectively. Like last time, Steve Harvey hosted the show this year. However, the 65^th edition of the competition broke its long tradition and considered 12 finalists instead of 13. The top finalists hailed from Kenya, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Panama, Colombia, Phillippines, Canada, Brazil, France, Haiti, Thailand, and the U.S. Clad in a gold-sequined gown, the 24-year-old dental surgery student Iris Mittenaere was very fortunate to have won the second Miss Universe for her country in 64 years after Christiane Martel.
