On many occasions, we make the mistake of thinking that food can only be consumed at a certain point or at a certain time. When it comes to fruits it happens with ripening. Only when they are ripe they do seem to be one hundred per cent ready for consumption. But this is not always the case. Many love to try oranges, apples or strawberries when they are not ripe enough because they offer a different kind of flavor, and even some enhanced benefits for our health.

The sour orange, its benefits and uses

You can also find different varieties within these fruits, which offer other types of benefits or different flavors than usual. Bitter or sour orange is one of the best examples, a fruit that does not have much to do with its flavor with the usual sweet orange. It is used both in cooking, and even medicinal ointments, thanks to its properties. And sour orange also offers curing benefits to our body, which we will see below.

Why you should eat sour oranges?

Bitter orange is well known for the following benefits:

  • It helps to get rid of nasal congestion.
  • Great remedy against insomnia.
  • It helps to digestion.
  • Soothes skin eruptions. You can apply its peel directly to the skin to soothe swelling.

Differences with sweet orange

As we have already seen, the benefits of sour orange have allowed it to spread, not only as a food or extract for other recipes, but also in its uses as an extract for perfumes, soap, medicinal ointments, jams or even honey, with all the benefits described above.

Despite the properties of sour orange, that does not mean that sweet orange has lost its place in our diet. Sweet orange is also often used in some perfumes, as an extract for other foods and even in soaps.

Sweet orange is a good solution against colds or fever, better even than sour orange, and its more citrus flavor is perfect for making certain essential oils. It helps to calm the problems of stress and depression and has a large amount of antioxidants, in addition to being one of the most famous foods in terms of its contribution to vitamin C. In the same way, sweet orange is a cleansing food, which helps our body to filter unnecessary things, so that we are much healthier and we can boast of good health.

Natural honey is one of the purest, most natural foods with the greatest amount of benefits on our health.

Thanks to its contribution of antioxidants and other nutrients, organic bee honey can help us both internally and externally, so it is convenient to take advantage of its properties.

5 reasons to add honey in your every day diet

The natural honey is a product with many benefits for health. Unlike the industrial one, it is not pasteurized and has not been subjected to processes in which it loses many of its beneficial properties.

Through pasteurization, the product is prevented from crystallizing and it is managed to retain a fresh appearance for longer. However, the procedure involves the destruction of its enzymes, antioxidants and many other nutrients that make it healthy.

Although it is a bit more expensive and difficult to acquire, natural or organic honey is one of the best options. The reasons? We will tell you about them below.

Five reasons to add natural honey in the diet

1/5- Regulates blood sugar

It seems strange, but it is. The secret is in the fructose and glucose balance. When honey is consumed, the fructose portion allows glucose to be taken up by the liver to form glycogen which becomes available to the brain, heart, kidneys and red blood cells. This improves the functioning of essential organs and tissues, removing glucose from the circulation and therefore lowering blood sugar.

2/5- Reduces metabolic stress

Emotional, psychological, or physiological stress transforms to metabolic stress in the body. It occurs when the brain thinks it is in danger of running out of fuel - when exercising or during nighttime sleep, for example.

Natural honey produces glycogen in the liver: an energy reserve that the brain needs for its normal functioning. We will have sufficient glycogen stores if we consume natural honey at breakfast, before going to bed and at regular intervals throughout the day (especially before and after exercising).

3/5- Promotes sleep recovery

The natural sugar contained in honey produces a slight secretion of insulin, which allows the secretion of melatonin, a vital hormone for the daily regulation of sleep and wakefulness. For this reason, it is advisable to consume warm milk with a tablespoon of honey before going to bed.

Melatonin also regulates heart rhythms, helps to improve immunity and facilitates the rebuilding of tissues during the night.

4/5 - Fight constipation

Honey has a high content of fructooligosaccharides (FOS), although they mainly have an energetic function, when they reach the colon they behave in a similar way to vegetable fiber. They capture water by increasing the volume of stool and cause gases that increase peristalsis or intestinal mobility. This is why they have a mild laxative effect.

In addition, it is the preferred food of the beneficial bacteria that inhabit the colon (our intestinal flora) responsible for the fermentation and putrefaction of food waste that will give rise to stool.

5/5- Improves brain function

In order for the brain to function properly, it must be supplied with energy. The function of calcium in the brain is extremely important since neurons use calcium to originate the electrical signal that is conducted from one neuron to another to communicate messages. If there is not enough calcium, the brain does not work properly. There is scientific information that shows that natural honey helps to absorb and fix calcium in the body, promoting proper brain function.

To conclude

Honey is a good ally for certain stages of life, and of the day. It benefits athletes, growing children, older adults, people with forced labor or those who have an extra intellectual load, since it provides an additional dose of energy that is consumed quickly and easily. It can be used by people who are losing weight, if they control the amounts.

The only exception is babies: It is advisable to consume it from 18 months of age, since the composition of honey can bring a toxin that the gastric juices of children cannot dissolve, which could ultimately cause botulism.

The cough, despite not being very serious in most cases, is quite bothersome. This occurs because the nerve endings of the airways between the throat and the lungs are irritated for different reasons: dust, bacteria, viruses, etc. The body reacts with the cough to try to expel these substances from these routes and thus clean them. In this article, we give you some tips to treat cough naturally, without medication.

Differences between dry cough and productive cough

Cough can be classified into two types, dry cough and productive cough. Productive cough is one in which mucus or phlegm is expelled through the action of coughing. This cough should not be suppressed since it has a beneficial effect on the body. However, it is possible to take something to produce an expectorant effect and thus loosen the mucus. The result is that it is easier for the body to get rid of mucus.

Dry cough is different from productive cough, so it is beneficial to try to suppress it. It can be caused by different reasons, for example, a dusty environment, allergies, dry air, etc. The medicines that are usually used for this type of cough usually contain dextromethorphan and diphenhydramine.
A series of studies published in 2004 found no significant difference between taking these drugs or taking a placebo, which indicates that, instead of resorting to chemical substances, it is almost better to take natural remedies.

Home remedies to treat cough

So what natural remedies can we take to reduce cough symptoms?

In the following portion you will find a list of 8 natural remedies that will come in handy:

1. A tablespoon of honey

Honey is a delicious food, and on top, it is good for treating coughs. A study by the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (United States) concludes that honey may be more effective than medications to calm coughs. Since it is a demulcent, its viscosity and its sticky properties are perfect for it to combat this phenomenon, since it covers and calms the irritated area. If the cough is the result of a bacterial disease, honey can shorten the duration of your symptoms and improve recovery. Ideally, take three tablespoons of honey a day.

However, despite being ideal for children and adults, it should not be applied to children under two years of age, as it can cause botulism, a fatal disease. It is also necessary to be careful when buying packaged honey, because according to the Food Safety News, 76% of all honey present in supermarkets may have been treated and do not contain natural honey.

2. Pepper tea with honey

Herbal teas can be a good alternative for cough, with the incentive that they are made with natural products. In the case of having a wet cough, it is advisable to drink pepper tea with honey. Apparently, this helps to stimulate circulation, works as a relief and enhances the flow of phlegm.

To make the recipe is simple, so surely you have the ingredients at home without having to go buy them. Just add a tablespoon of fresh pepper (fat grain) and two tablespoons of honey to a cup of boiling water. Then it should be left to rest for 15 minutes. Finally, the mixture must be strained and the mixture is ready to drink.

3. Steam

Steam is one of the best remedies for either a cough, a cold, or congestion. Using this old practice helps to release mucus and phlegm almost immediately. It is also possible to add oils that facilitate this task and stimulate a positive effect.

To benefit from this you can take a bowl with boiled water. Then you should place yourself at a safe distance, in which you do not feel the excess heat and you can breathe the steam. Then place a towel over your head so that the steam doesn't escape. Inhale and exhale while noticing the benefits. Do this for 5-10 minutes, 2 times a day. You can also take a hot bath with the windows closed and take advantage of the steam while you relax.

4. Ginger and mint syrup

Ginger syrup is a home medication that has long been used to treat coughs. It is a natural expectorant, which also stops irritability and pain in the upper part of the throat. It is ideal for dry cough. To increase its effect it is possible to add mint to definitively alleviate that irritating tingling.
The recipe for this syrup is simple to make. You only need to use 3 tablespoons of minced ginger, 1 tablespoon of dried mint, 4 cups of water and 1 cup of honey. First, you have to chop the ginger and add it together with the mint to 4 cups of water. This mixture is brought to a boil and allowed to cook over low heat for 15 minutes. The next step is to let it cool slightly. Then add the honey and stir until the mixture has dissolved. Take a tablespoon every few hours. It is possible to keep the syrup in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

5. Sleep with your head elevated

In some individuals, a productive cough occurs when mucus passes from the back of the nose to the throat. This usually occurs, especially at night, as the lying position of the body causes this phenomenon. Sometimes the effect this can have includes causing headaches and shortness of breath.
Changing this position and sleeping with your head higher helps prevent this from happening, making you more likely to improve and say goodbye to your cough.

6. Gargling with salt water

Just when the sore throat appears, it is appropriate to gargle with salted water for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This procedure can help drain excess fluid from the swollen areas of the throat thus reducing symptoms. Gargling, too, makes the mucus thinner. Half a glass of cold water with two tablespoons of salt will be enough for this method to take effect.

7. Vaporub

For several decades Vaporub has been used by many people as a home remedy for cough. A study by the University of Pennsylvania confirms this. Although the reason why this product works so well remains a mystery, the ingredients it contains seem to help prevent congestion and reduce coughing, since air circulates more freely from the outside to the lungs.

8. Garlic

Garlic is also a natural remedy that works great for calming cough with phlegm and contains several properties that make it act as a natural antibiotic. For garlic to be effective, it can be consumed in two ways. One of them, when ingesting it raw, preferably on an empty stomach. However, this is not a viable option for everyone, because it can cause an upset stomach.
Another way to benefit from garlic is to break it in two halves and leave each half in the cheeks of the mouth. It should be left in that position for 15-20 minutes, whenever the pain is present.

The number of hours that we will spend in our homes either alone or accompanied has opened up an immense range of possibilities to enjoy free time! We offer you a selection of plans so that all the hours you will be in your home are, above all, fun!

We are already in quarantine and being concerned about how to stay distracted and away from our precious street. We already know that staying home is the key to overcoming these difficult times and now we must be more united than ever. However, this time does not have to be a punishment. We have been asking for a breather for a long time, a moment of tranquility in our house. Now, with these spare days ahead, we are going to enjoy our solitude in the best possible way. Here, I offer you plans for all kinds of personalities that can make your stay at home a little less tedious.

What to do in quarantine? 7 plans to make the most of your time at home

1. Sport: Embrace it and you would never get bored

Maintaining a routine can help you to avoid the stagnation of spending too much time in isolation. Being at home is no longer an excuse for not exercising. It is the basis of good physical but also mental health. The gyms and sports centers are closed, but many of them have opened their applications or social networks so that customers can follow their routines normally. Each person must be aware of his physical state and its possibilities. Avoid exercises that you think might injure you or that you're not ready for yet

2. Yoga: It is never too late to listen to yourself

As I mentioned, physical health is very important and is directly linked to mental health. Practicing yoga is going to help you in these difficult times to stay calm and stay serene. For this reason, if you have not yet started practicing yoga at home, it may be a good time to start.

Take it easy, start small. Yoga is a discipline that requires patience and, above all, time. Now that you can take a break to listen to yourself it is a very good opportunity to enter the yogic world.
Depending on the type of yoga you choose, you will focus more on meditation, exercising your body or breathing, or better yet, a combination of all three. And just like if you start practicing a sports routine, be careful, don't get hurt, and if any posture hurts, avoid it.

3. Self-care: Experiment with beauty techniques

This time is a good time for personal care that our busy schedule does not allow us to carry out. Setting up a spa at home is not as difficult as it sounds. To start, a bubble bath is an extraordinary idea for any time of the day. Besides, you can accompany it with aromatic candles to give it an even more relaxing touch.

Homemade masks are very easy to make and do not require many ingredients. With honey and sugar, you can make a very effective exfoliating face mask. You can also mix sugar with lemon and its antioxidant power will help you file the most complicated impurities. Also, if you add oil, you can exfoliate your lips and have a juicy and hydrated finish.

4. Books:  Enjoy all the books that you had never been able to read

Free time leaves room for all those things you always wanted to learn and never decided to do. Reading a book is a classic that helps you disconnect from the world and activate the mind. I have chosen to read Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. However, the world of reading has a thousand possibilities for all tastes. Give it a try and explore!

5. Writing: unleash your creative sides

Writing is also a form of escape. Whether it be creating your literary writings, a novel, poetry or leaving evidence of your own feelings on paper. Unburdening yourself in difficult times is the best therapy there can be. In addition, you can take the opportunity to write an email to your loved ones to keep in touch with them. It can be a beautiful gesture.

6. Kitchen: Try out new recipes of desserts, healthy menus, etc.

Never before have you had fewer excuses to go to your kitchen stove? How about you take out the chef inside you? Despite the restrictions that are occurring, you

7. Series And Films: There is life beyond the mainstream

With so much time on the sofa in your house, you are surely tired of asking all your WhatsApp groups that your friends and family recommend series or movies. And why do you always listen to the same titles?

With so many digital entertainment content platforms, you now have almost endless possibilities of avoiding boredom with series and movies from all eras, genres, and countries.

With all these plans there is no room for boredom. Try and be amazed by the comfort of your home. See you soon on the street. Cheer up!

As per recent government call all unregistered and illegal SIM card users need to register their mobile phone connection. SMS being already sent to users with unregistered SIM cards and also users with inaccurate registration information. The state minister for Post and Telecommunications, Tarana Halim has asserted that this registration process is only applicable for those mobile phone users whose registration is either absent or disputed. The properly registered users don't need to bother for re-registration.

Re-registration of SIM Card by SMS

The users can register or re-register their SIM by following a simple step. Firstly, go to the message option in your mobile phone then type the full National Id Card number, date of birth, full name and send it to 1600 number for authentication:
NID No<Space>DATE OF BIRTH <Space>NAME
For example: 2698675643123 01 Jan 1985 Mahmud Hasan)
If the details are OK then a confirmation message will be sent to the user. If the information is not in order then the user will be alerted with a return SMS.

The above method is applicable for GSM mobile operators, such as Grameenphone, Robi, Banglalink, Teletalk, and Airtel. The Citycell users can register or re-register their SIM card in the a similar manner as the GSM users but with slight alteration. For Citycell (CDMA) the users need to append an additional "U" before national id number:

All should register or re-register their SIM card to avoid future disconnection. And there should be spontaneous response from everyone since this registration or re-registration is totally free of cost.

Start Menu 8

Windows 8 emerged with tons of new ideas and wonderful user experience as well. This series just filled the vacuum which Android OS created with its novel ideas. However, this uniquely innovative OS made some unnecessary changes which just undermined some of its established features. One such feature is the Start Menu. Microsoft created lots of inconvenience for the users by completely disabling this feature. Although, this created a lot of hue and cry amongst users, Microsoft still decided to exclude this feature from its update in 8.1.

But it’s good news that the software developers always try to compile new applications to increase user experience as per individual needs. The users just need to opt the right application to fulfill their purpose. In the same way, any user of Windows 8 can solve the Start Menu issue by using a number of third party applications. But in my opinion “Start Menu 8” is the best software for this purpose. Now, let’s watch the following video to see how to use this software:

Nearly one year has been passed since Microsoft released its ultimate OS Windows 8. But regretfully, Windows 8 failed to attract customer satisfaction as per Microsoft’s anticipations. Microsoft designed its OS for both desktop and tablet PCs. Although the OS felt OK with the tablet users, it began to get into the nerves of desktop users. It is because this OS is mainly good for touch devices. Taking some major shortcoming into consideration, Microsoft recently decided to release the first major update for Windows 8. It will be released in October 2013. The existing Windows 8 users can download the update for free of charge from Windows Store.

Windows 8.1

The users of Windows 8 will have new experience in the following fields:
  • Options for choosing animated images as background for Start Screen
  • Slide shows in the lock screen
  • New version Internet explorer (v 11)
  • Bing-powered search
  • Cloud connectivity through Skydrive
  • Search feature powered by Bing
  • Addition of a Start Button
  • Windows 8 messaging application will be replaced by Skype
  • Provision for skipping the Start Screen to boot directly to desktop
It seems to be a timely measure from Microsoft’s part to rectify Windows 8’s shortcomings. Although they tried to incorporate new features in the existing OS, it is still doubted whether the users will appreciate it or not. For instance, Microsoft hasn't bothered to include a start menu, which could make app navigation greatly troublesome.

The interested users may sign up to try the early preview version of Windows 8. We have to wait till October to evaluate the final version. Till now we can wait and see what Microsoft is bringing forth with the latest release.
