About Western Series
Sheba Prokashoni introduced the Western series to the Bangladeshi readers during the 80s. The aforesaid series portrays the life and culture of the Old West (popularly known as Wild West) within the framework of adventurous stories. The Old West is perhaps one of the most fascinating periods in the history of the United States. The Wild West occurred when settlers and pioneers attempted to populate the territories west of the Mississippi River, and it continued after the Civil War, lasting around two centuries. Almost all of the Old West stories feature gunslingers robbing banks and trains, cowboys on long cattle drives, quest for lost treasures, tribal and territorial warfare, battles between ranchers, clashes between the law and the outlaw, and so on.
Most of Sheba Western books are adaptations of foreign stories in Bangla. Qazi Mahbub Hossain penned the first Western book for Sheba Prokashoni, which was Aleyar Pichche (1983) by name. The most recognized writers of the Western series include: Qazi Mahbub Hossain, Saokot Hossain, Rowshan Jamil, Kazi Shahnoor Hossain, and Qazi Maimur Husain.
Today we take this opportunity to share a Western novel entitled Shotru Shibir. Hope you thoroughly enjoy this book!
