It’s really annoying when unwanted insects start rambling here and there. And if the intruder is a cockroach, then there is no point of discussion. This menacing insect is not only irritating but also the cause of various diseases like cold and asthma. They are very good at creating a filthy and smelly environment starting from food spoilage. Cockroaches infest everywhere, under the bed, in the kitchen, in the bathroom and many other places. Wherever there are darkness and food, there will be the presence of cockroaches.
Scientists also acknowledge that it is difficult to get rid of cockroaches. It is even said that cockroaches will survive amid a nuclear explosion. Have you ever wondered from where so many cockroaches are coming even though you are regularly killing them with insecticides? A female cockroach can lay 40 eggs at a time. If a cockroach dies, another 40 will fill its place. Do you know what to do to end this vicious cycle? Arrangements must be made so that the big cockroaches die along with the small ones.
There are various sprays and poisons available in the market to get rid of cockroaches. But these commercial products often fail to kill or propel cockroaches. Resultantly, they live happily in your house making your life absolutely miserable and disgusting.
However, there are some domestic ways to drive away cockroaches. With these techniques, the house cockroaches will be removed very easily.
How to hunt the house cockroaches?
5/1 Baking Soda & Boric Acid
You can effectively get rid of cockroaches by using either baking soda or boric acid. Let’s see how to do it.
Things you will need
- Three teaspoons of baking soda
- Three teaspoons of boric acid
- Water
- Sugar
What to do:
Boric acid paste - Boric acid has long been used as a pesticide. And the best part is that it is not harmful to humans. Now all you have to do is to prepare it:
- Make a paste by mixing three tablespoons of boric acid with equal amount of sugar and water.
- Apply this paste in the areas of the house where cockroach infestation is high, such as kitchen, bathroom, storage, etc.
This paste contains sugar so cockroaches will eat it with interest. After eating, the body of the cockroach will become dehydrated due to the effect of the boric acid and it will die slowly. Not only that, this paste will stick to its body. It will also carry the paste to its abode and feed its children, and consequently, they will die as well. Always use this paste with several days’ break to get better results. There will be no cockroaches in the house for sure.
Baking soda paste - Baking soda (but not baking powder) is used in many household purposes and it is just another usage. Make a paste with the same amount of baking soda, sugar and water as you made a paste of boric acid and apply it all over the house. You will get the same benefits as a boric acid paste. However, it will not work as fast as ordinary chemical sprays. Even if you work a little slowly, there will be a lot of benefits.
The main ingredient in baking soda and baking powder is the same, sodium bicarbonate. However, some more substances are mixed in the baking powder. Simply speaking, baking soda is more active or effective than baking powder. This poison can also be made with baking powder. However, it has to be applied repeatedly, and it will take a long time to work.
5/2 Bay leaves
Cockroaches can't tolerate the smell of bay leaves. As a result, where there are bay leaves, there will be no cockroaches. So put bay leaf powder where the cockroaches are more. It will not kill the insects but will keep the insects away from the house.
5/3 Cucumber
Cucumber is much more effective in eliminating cockroaches. Take some cucumber peels and put them inside an empty aluminium can. Now place this can in the places where the cockroaches infest. You will see that the cockroach infestation has stopped. Cucumber peel reacts with aluminum to create a foul odor, which accelerates the death of cockroaches. However, do not keep this more than a day to avoid infestation of flies.
5/4 Petroleum jelly
Take Petrolium Jelly in a jar. Now put some fruit peels like mango, banana, apple in it. Keep this jar in the place where cockroaches enter the house. The smell of the fruit peel will attract the cockroaches and the petroleum jelly will prevent the cockroaches from entering the jar. When cockroaches come around the jar and gather, spray or sprinkle soapy water. You will see that the cockroach is gone in an instant.
5/5 Pepper powder
Take one liter of water in a mug and mix it with a clove of garlic, some onion paste and a tablespoon of pepper powder. Now spray it all over the house or in places where cockroaches come more. You will see that the cockroach has moved away from your home.
